Therapeutic treatment approaches

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

A therapeutic approach that focuses on thoughts, emotions and behaviors to decrease and manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, marital problems, etc. Together we will problem solve to find solutions and explore effective coping skills- within session and/or utilizing homework outside of the therapeutic setting.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

A therapeutic approach that focuses on managing intense emotions, accepting the situation around us and identifying ways we can change behaviors. While I am not certified in DBT, I often pull from this framework to assist clients in understanding how they can work through their emotions, identify DBT coping skills that can be helpful and how DBT can be implement with other treatment approaches.

Solution Focused Therapy

A therapeutic approach that is typically short term due to the nature of focusing on solutions moving forward, rather than problems in the past. We will work together to identify specific struggles/issues/concerns and explore possible solutions. SFF is future and goal oriented, increases motivation for change and helps us sustain positive changes to overcome stressors.

Compassion Focused Therapy

A therapeutic approach that focuses on self compassion and understanding while we navigate feelings of shame, self-criticism and process past traumatic experiences such as childhood abuse and/or neglect. We will explore the mind-body connection and also gain a deeper understanding of the mindfulness.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

A therapeutic approach that focuses on radical acceptance of your emotions while learning to navigate the world around you. We often avoid or deny our emotions, especially if they are intense or confusing. ACT allows us to accept things as they are while we identify ways of changing our thoughts and committing to changing our behaviors.

Strengths Based Therapy

A therapeutic approach that focuses on your inner strengths, resourcefulness and resilience rather than your weaknesses, shortcoming and self-doubts. SBT encourages self empowerment, self determination and a sense of hope and motivation, When you begin to see all that you are, it opens up a new world around you rather than focusing on everything you (think) are not.

Narrative Therapy

A therapeutic approach often used to address Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This approaches focuses on externalizing the problem and separating them from the individual. Together we will find your voice and understand the meaning of past events, so that you can move forward.

Psychodynamic Therapy

A therapeutic approach that explores past experiences, often stemming from childhood, and how they connect to our current mindset. We will work together to gain self-awareness of how our past has influenced our present- why we are who are, why we do the things we do.
